I've read a bunch of books about the American Revolution this past year. 1776 by David McCullough got me into this craze... it was such an amazing book.
Hey everyone! I have two artworks that I need to get up here sometime =O I still haven't taken a picture of them yet... they're at school.
Today I went on a field trip -- well, not really. My art class was talking about going on another trip to the National Portrait Gallery to see this hip-hop exhibit, so my teacher said today at 2:00 we'd take the metro down to it. (I live outside DC) Well, no one else showed up. LOL. It was just me and my teacher and her two young children. We had fun looking at the artwork though (this was art class btw). (Edit: I'm so redundant, aren't I...)
So anyways, I'm 18 now and I finally can vote on Tuesday -- that's when the Maryland Democratic primary is. I'm pretty sure I'll vote for Obama now, but it was a hard decision. I like both him and Hillary and what they have to offer the White House, in their own different ways. I'm kind of pissed at Bill right now though for all the crap he said against Obama though... And I think if the race is McCain vs. Hillary, McCain will win. McCain is pretty much moderate and will most likely draw more independents than Hillary would. And Hillary keeps saying she is tough and can fight the Republicans, but that is total BS if you don't mind me saying. Barack Obama is bulletproof, says the Wall street Journal. I agree. First, any personal comment they could say to him could be turned into a race issue, and no one would ever say that. Second, he would draw more independents than McCain. Third, his young age is a stark contrast to McCain who is in his 70s. Fourth... he doesn't have a bad record!!! Unlike so many things people could say against Hillary or McCain.
I've been having a lot of problems with one of my molars too. So I went to the dentist and they said this cavity formed in in within 3 months, and it's so bad that I need a crown. Except the decay (I hate that word... decay...) is so bad that I would have to go to an endodontist to perform a root canal. So I get my root canal yesterday, but they could only give me a partial root canal. Now I have to go to a periodontist and get some gum surgery so he can finish the root canal. Something about how he can't get some metal thing to lodge on my tooth so he could go deeper -- I don't know the details. But they need to take some gum out. Then once that's done, I have to go back to finish the root canal THEN I can finally get my crown. Or else, they have to extract the molar. My life sucks. I literally cried when he said I had to go to ANOTHER doctor. I feel really bad about it... I know how much my parents get mad when I have teeth problems.
I got my semester report card too -- only 1 B, that's good. I got an A in AP English which I wasn't expecting. English is one of my worst subjects. The B was in multivariable calculus =P I hope the colleges won't mind that LOL.
I'm taking this philosophy class this semester, and it's amazing. The people in my class really seem to enjoy it, and the teacher is amazing. He's one of those teachers who is SO smart and shouldn't be a teacher, but does it because it's his passion. We had this whole "Serious game" about being a Greek Island and Athens is trying to pressure us to join their Delian League where they would take our only gold mine too, but if we decline, Athens would fight us! It was a lot of fun. Think of what the book "Ender's Game" was about -- that's kind of what we were doing.
